Places along the route
  • Málaga - the birthplace of Picasso and vibrant center of the Costa del Sol with entertaining nightlife, wide beaches, impressive buildings and interesting sights.

  • Antequera - the heart of Andalusia with the Alcazaba fortress of Antequera on the fertile plateau of the Río Guadalhorce.

  • Córdoba - the city of the caliphs with the Mezquita - a mixture of mosque and cathedral - in the historic old town, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • Almodóvar del Río - famous for its castle, which towers high above the city. The castle and its surroundings were occasionally used as a film set for the Game of Thrones series.

  • Cazorla - 4000 years of history characterize the mountain town on the western edge of the Sierras de Cazorla Natural Park, which has been declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

  • Jaén - World capital of olive oil, surrounded by countless olive groves.

Natural sites and sightseeing attractions
  • El Torcal - the karst formations created over millions of years are among the most extraordinary natural spectacles in Europe and have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2016.

  • The Badlands of Granada - the geopark extends over 4722 square kilometers northeast of and around Guadix. Important geomorphological forms in the badlands are canyons, ravines and tower-like formations of sedimentary rock in which numerous fossils can be found.

  • Sierra Norte de Sevilla - the 1774 square kilometer geo- and nature park is located in the north of the province of Seville in the mountain ranges of the central Sierra Morena. Most of the rock formations were formed between one billion and 250 million years ago.

  • Sierras Subbéticas - numerous ammonites can be found on the former seabed in this geopark. Fossils of snail-like molluscs that populated the Tethys Sea around 150 million years ago.
